About
Discover the joy of pottery in the heart of Shropshire at Lucy Young Ceramics, based at the historic Maws Craft Centre in Ironbridge. Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to clay after some time away, Lucy’s workshops offer a warm and welcoming space to slow down, get creative, and enjoy making something by hand.
Growing up in the Forest of Dean, Lucy was surrounded by pottery. Her father, Alistair Young, is a respected potter, and creativity was a constant part of everyday life. After studying Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and working as a teacher, Lucy retrained at Whichford Pottery in the Cotswolds before establishing her own studio practice. Today, she creates hand-thrown domestic ware, bespoke branded ceramics including tankards for breweries and teaches workshops and courses on how to throw the pottery wheel.
Set within a beautifully restored Victorian tile factory, the studio is surrounded by independent artisan shops, cafés, and scenic walks through the Ironbridge Gorge. It’s the perfect destination for a creative day out.
