The Water Rat is a beautiful newly refurbished independently owned pub, restaurant & rooms located on the banks of the River Severn in the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge.  

There are 6 beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms in the connected Georgian House, with the large lavish double rooms and superior garden view rooms feeling almost like suites.  

The Water Rat is a great place for a short ‘reset’ break in Telford and Ironbridge Gorge or as a base to explore the historic county of Shropshire.  

Check into your room, leave your car in our free car parking and walk down through our gardens to the river and then follow the path into the world famous Ironbridge Gorge. Enjoy the town, its famous Bridge, shops, sights and history; visit our sister Pub, the White Hart for a light lunch or coffee.  Feeling a little more adventurous, then visit any of the 10 museums that make up the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust- the highlight is the Victorian working village, Blists Hill.

Or use Pub as a base to discover the historic towns of Telford, the new Southwater leisure district or explore our magical woondlands, nature reserves and cycling and walking routes.  Take a day out at The Wrekin, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, visit medieval Much Wenlock, the remains of Wroxeter Roman City or the market town of Bridgnorth – home to The Severn Valley Railway. 

Eat with us in the evening, or at Number Ten our rosette awarded restaurant at the White Hart, or at any one of the many pub restaurants in and around Ironbridge Gorge.
