About
Join a family-friendly celebration of history, folklore and autumnal charm at Blists Hill this October.
Visitors can experience the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the season as communities prepare for the coming winter, from harvest traditions to carved turnips. With activities and trails throughout the historic town, there is plenty for families to enjoy.
The Missing Witch Marks Trail (recommended for ages 8+) follows Martha the herbalist's discovery that the town's protective witch marks are fading. Visitors can become Witch Mark Detectives, searching for missing symbols and taking wax rubbings to restore their power before All Hallows. Please note this trail is not suitable for children under three due to small parts in the prize.
The Great Fairy Winter Move Trail is suitable for all ages. As winter approaches, the fairies of Blists Hill have moved indoors, settling into cosy corners of the town’s shops and buildings. Visitors can look for fairy house doors and signs of their helpful work, from baking and sewing to letter writing and laundry.
Both trails cost £3.50 each and can be purchased from the Bank exhibit. Prizes can be collected from Visitor Reception before heading home.
Booking is not required. The event is free to attend, but normal admission charges apply.
