About
This May half term, families are invited to discover Heroes of the Air at the RAF Museum Midlands. The joint top‑rated museum in the UK by Which? members promises a memorable and great‑value day out.
The Museum is celebrating the heroes of aviation with a brand‑new interactive Hero Trail. For £3, families can pick up an activity booklet on arrival and follow the trail through a world‑class aircraft collection, from early biplanes to supersonic fast jets. Along the way, visitors will uncover inspiring stories from aviation heroes of the past while putting their detective skills to the test.
From 25–29 May, visitors can also enjoy special screenings of WWII: I Was There, nestled among the aircraft in the Bomber Command Exhibition. This powerful BBC documentary series shares first‑hand accounts from those who lived through the Second World War, with screenings running throughout the day.
Beyond the hangars, families can explore an RAF‑themed playground and enjoy immersive experiences in Flight Zone, including the Red Arrows 4D Theatre, a 360° Spitfire VR flight, a Eurofighter Typhoon simulator and ParadropVR.
During half term, children aged 10 and under can eat free in the Airfield Kitchen, with one free child’s meal available with every adult main purchased, daily from 12.00–3.00pm. Free entry makes this an ideal family day out.
