Families and film fans are in for a treat this summer, as The Ironbridge Gorge welcomes a brand-new visitor experience provided by The Billy and Richmond Project Company, inspired by the work of award-winning animator Leo Wright.
Launching on 16 August the Billy & Richmond Detective Trail invites families to explore Ironbridge High Street through the eyes of two charming characters: Billy the Wolf and Richmond the Pig. Created by Leo Wright, an Aardman Academy graduate, the characters are featured in his short film The Big Bad Wolf, which recently been shortlisted for the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards for Best Animation 2025 and a trip to Hollywood.
Six Ironbridge businesses will host framed versions of Billy the Wolf and Richmond the Pig. Children can stamp their trail maps at each location with a chance to win special prize.
Exclusive merchandise and creative workshops with Leo himself will be available from the trail’s HQ located at Three Tuns House. Further information about this will be revealed soon.
The trail will run continually throughout the summer from 16 August 2025, 12pm – 4pm daily.
