The National Trust has shared a further update on the phased reopening of attractions across Ironbridge Gorge, following the transfer of the sites into its care earlier this year.

The update outlines progress on essential behind‑the‑scenes work, alongside confirmed plans for reopening several key attractions from May, with others to follow into early summer as part of a phased approach.

Mark Agnew, Project Director for the National Trust at Ironbridge Gorge, said: “When we announced the transition of the Ironbridge Gorge sites to the care of the National Trust, we knew that we would face some challenges in opening these important sites to the public. We are making considerable investment in IT and other infrastructure to ensure the smooth running of Ironbridge Gorge as part of the National Trust. Unfortunately, the implementation of this work has proved more challenging and time consumingthan originally anticipated.

“We are still intending to reopen Blists Hill Victorian Town, the Museum of Iron and the Furnace Kitchen as planned in May. Details of timings and prices will follow on our website in the next few weeks. We are also able to confirm that we intend to reopen Jackfield Tile Museum and Enginuity to schools in June, with bookable visits to the Tile Museum at the weekends for other visitors.

“However, we have taken the difficult decision to slightly delay the reopening of the Iron Bridge Toll House to mid‑June. The remaining Ironbridge Gorge sites, including the Museum of the Gorge, will follow in a phased approach.

“This is the first phase of the reopening of the entire Ironbridge Gorge collection of sites that will continue over the coming months and is a precursor to an exciting summer as we welcome visitors back to this wonderful World Heritage Site.”

Further details, including opening times and ticket prices, will be shared by the National Trust in the coming weeks.
