Telford Town Park retains prestigious Country Park Accreditation

Telford Town Park has once again achieved Country Park Accreditation status, recognising the high standards of management, conservation and visitor experience found across one of the region’s leading green spaces.

Awarded by Natural England through the Country Park Accreditation Scheme, the accreditation confirms that Telford Town Park continues to meet the national standards required of officially recognised country parks.

Covering more than 150 hectares, the park combines extensive woodlands, open green spaces, lakes and wildlife habitats with a wide range of visitor attractions and recreational facilities. The accreditation highlights its success in providing opportunities for outdoor recreation while protecting and enhancing its natural environment.

Renewed every three years, Country Park Accreditation is awarded only to parks that meet strict criteria covering accessibility, visitor facilities, environmental management, community involvement and opportunities to enjoy the countryside. Accredited parks must be free to enter, accessible to local communities and managed to deliver a high quality countryside experience.

The successful renewal reflects the ongoing work of the Council’s parks team and volunteers, who care for the park throughout the year and help maintain its balance as both a popular visitor destination and an important haven for nature.

For residents and visitors alike, the accreditation offers independent assurance that Telford Town Park continues to provide a safe, welcoming and high quality environment for recreation, wellbeing and connecting with nature. Accredited parks are also independently monitored by Natural England to ensure standards are maintained.

"Many people know and love the park for its play areas, events and family attractions, but this recognition also highlights its importance as a place where nature thrives in the heart of our Borough.

"With its extensive woodlands, open green spaces, lakes and wildlife habitats, the park gives residents and visitors a chance to enjoy the benefits of the countryside right on their doorstep.

"This accreditation is an independent endorsement of the quality of the park and the work that goes into maintaining it. I would like to thank the teams and volunteers that work so hard to maintain Telford Town Park and all our other green spaces to such a high standard."

The accreditation certificate is on display at the Telford Town Park Visitor Centre.
