About
As part of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums Trust’s Tuesday Talks series, this event features a presentation by Kyla Hislop, the Trust’s Acting Head of Interpretation. The talk delves into the changing landscape of fashion during the early nineteenth century, highlighting styles not currently represented in museum displays.
Attendees will journey through the classical-inspired Regency outfits seen in Pride & Prejudice, the bold and extravagant 1830s styles featured in Gentleman Jack, and the more restrained and sombre 1840s attire associated with Jane Eyre. The session will conclude with a rare opportunity to view original garments from the Trust’s collections, examining their construction, fabrics, and the silhouettes that defined each decade.
This event offers a unique insight into historical fashion and its cultural context, ideal for enthusiasts of costume history, literature, and museum interpretation.
