Step into the world of clay and creativity with a hands-on pottery taster session led by the super talented and experienced ceramicist Lucy Young. Nestled in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – this immersive experience is perfect for absolute beginners or anyone looking to reconnect with the joy of making.
Under Lucy’s expert guidance, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, from preparing your clay to safely operating one of the studio’s brand-new, state-of-the-art pottery wheels. After a live demonstration, you’ll have the rest of the session to create your own unique pots, with Lucy on hand to support and inspire.

Surrounded by scenic countryside and artisan studios, it’s just a short drive from Ironbridge and easily accessible from Telford and Bridgnorth.

How to Find Us – Lucy Young Ceramics
Lucy Young Ceramics is located at Unit D2, Maws Craft Centre, in the village of Jackfield, just outside Ironbridge, Shropshire.
From Ironbridge (approx. 1.5 miles):
Head southeast on the B4373 towards Broseley. Cross the Free Bridge over the River Severn. Turn left onto Ferry Road, following signs for Jackfield. Continue for about half a mile – the entrance to Maws Craft Centre will be on your right. From Telford (approx. 7 miles):
Take the A442 southbound towards Bridgnorth. Exit at the Ironbridge Gorge junction and follow signs for Ironbridge. Continue through Madeley and follow signs to Jackfield. Turn onto Ferry Road and look for the Maws Craft Centre entrance on your left. Once inside the Maws Craft Centre, Lucy Young Ceramics is located in Unit D2, just off the central courtyard.
Free parking is available on site.
Active Transport, the centre is also accessible via local walking and cycling routes, including the Severn Valley Way and National Cycle Route 45.
