About
Exotic Zoo will once again host Telford Fossil Festival, bringing together leading palaeontologists, artists, and fossil experts for a weekend celebrating prehistoric life. The event will spotlight the Telford Natural History Museum, which forms part of Exotic Zoo and recently welcomed its first full‑time palaeontologist, Tom Moncrieffe.
Tom has curated the festival to attract fossil enthusiasts from across the UK and to showcase the museum’s work. Across the weekend, visitors will have the chance to see a newly revealed Jurassic dinosaur that will be housed at the museum, along with the new public fossil preparation laboratory, offering a rare glimpse into real fossil science.
Visitors can enjoy The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs talk with acclaimed palaeontologist, author and TV presenter Dr Dean Lomax, alongside world‑renowned natural history artist Bob Nicholls. The session will include a Q&A and book signing, with tickets available when purchasing festival entry.
Throughout the festival, guests can explore a Jurassic Park Jeep, view real skeletons from the museum’s collection, including a 32‑million‑year‑old Oligocene rhinoceros skull, and browse a range of fossil and paleoart stalls. Workshops, activities and expert demonstrations will run all weekend. Festival tickets include two‑day entry to the zoo.
